Funeral Music
There are several opportunities to incorporate music into the Funeral Liturgy. Please select a Gathering Song (Processional), and a Preparation of the Gifts Song (Offertory), and a Communion Song (Communion), and a Closing Song (Recessional). Code indicates appropriate part of Mass for hymns to be placed: Processional, Offertory, Communion, Recessional. Note some Hymns are appropriate in more than one place. Example: I Am The Bread of Life is appropriate at Processional, Communion, or Recessional, you the family decide where to place. Whereas, Example: Ave Maria is only appropriate for the Offertory.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I replace the Responsorial Psalm with another song? Only psalms as detailed by the readings booklet may be done. Paraphrases of sacred scripture are not permitted (e.g., Shepherd Me, O God in place of Psalm 23)
May I request a certain organist/cantor to be the musician for my loved one’s funeral? You are welcome to discuss a specific musician with Church staff. Please note the Mass may be scheduled when your preferred musician is unavailable and another musician will be used.
