Have you walked past treasure without knowing it was there? In Matthew 13:44-52, a man finds treasure hidden in a field. He sells everything to buy that field. Christ hides in plain sight too. He waits for you in ordinary places you pass every day.

The Parable of the Wheat and the Weeds tells the story of a farmer whose field holds both wheat and weeds growing side by side. The workers want to pull the weeds right away. The farmer tells them to wait. He knows a hasty hand might tear out good wheat along with the bad.

We often ask why weeds exist in the world at all. This week, try a different question. Ask why God continues to work in you, even with the weeds still present in your own heart.

This Sunday, Isaiah tells us God's word is like rain and snow. They fall from heaven and do not return without watering the earth first. They make the ground fertile and give seed to the sower and bread to the one who eats. God's word works the same way. It goes out and accomplishes what He sends it to do.
